US President Donald Trump has said he is “not looking” to be re-elected in 2020.
Trump said he will stay at the White House for at least another six months and will “definitely not be reelected” in 2020.
“I am not looking to serve my country, and that’s the fact,” Trump said during a rally in Cincinnati.
Trump had said earlier this month that he will not seek a fourth term.
But he has since softened his stance on the election of 1896 when he conceded defeat.
“I don’t want to be elected president,” he told ABC News.
“But if I had to make a decision, I would probably make it a very short term, maybe a couple of months.”
“If I was going to do it again, I wouldn’t do it for five years.”
Trump had previously said he was “100%” certain to lose the election to Democrat Hillary Clinton.
The US election is a rematch of the historic 1828 election between Republican Abraham Lincoln and Democrat Andrew Jackson.
